Expatriate Zone
Last reviewed: 1 September 2026
Expatriate Zone is a Kenya-focused relocation guide, directory and moderated classifieds service. These Terms & Conditions explain the ground rules for using the site, creating an account, placing an ad, claiming a provider profile or buying a visibility upgrade.
1. Using the platform
You may use Expatriate Zone for lawful personal or business purposes. You must give accurate information, keep your login details private and update your details when they change. One person should use one account. If we reasonably believe an account is being used to mislead people, avoid moderation or interfere with the service, we may pause or close it.
2. Guides and directory profiles
Our guides are general information for people settling into life in Kenya. They are not legal, medical, immigration, tax, insurance or financial advice. Check time-sensitive information with the relevant authority or qualified professional before acting on it.
Directory profiles may be built from public research or supplied by a provider. A profile is not a recommendation, partnership or guarantee. We do not promise that contact details, prices, availability, licences or services are current. Speak directly with a provider and make your own checks before you engage or pay them.
3. Classifieds
Members may post genuine offers, requests and notices in the categories provided. A classified must describe the item, service, job or property honestly. Do not post stolen goods, counterfeit goods, regulated products without the required authority, scams, pyramid schemes, discriminatory content, adult content, malware, personal data about another person, or anything unlawful in Kenya.
Classifieds are reviewed before publication. Review is a safety step, not a promise that a listing or seller is trustworthy. Buyers and sellers deal with each other directly. Meet safely, inspect before paying where practical, and do not send money because a listing appears on Expatriate Zone.
4. Provider claims and KYC review
Claiming a provider profile requires a confirmed account and a manual verification check. We may ask for your name, role, business contact details, a verification route and a short explanation of your authority to represent the business. Do not send full identity numbers, copies of identity documents or document images through the claim form.
A successful claim gives a provider a route to request changes; it does not create an endorsement, remove our moderation rights or guarantee publication. We may verify information independently, ask follow-up questions, decline a claim or keep a profile private. Giving false information in a claim is grounds for suspension.
5. Paid plans and payments
Some classified visibility options are paid and are priced in Kenyan shillings at checkout. Payment is processed through the payment methods made available in WooCommerce and, where enabled, Paystack. A successful payment does not bypass moderation. A paid listing is published only after the payment status and the listing review are both cleared.
Plan duration, image allowance and featured placement are shown before checkout. If a payment fails or is cancelled, the listing remains unpublished. Requests about an accidental charge or a service problem should be sent to admin@example.com. Any refund will be handled case by case, subject to the information shown at checkout and applicable Kenyan law.
6. Your content
You keep ownership of content you submit. You give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, format, reproduce and display it as needed to run, promote and moderate the relevant listing or profile. You confirm that you have the right to post it and that it does not infringe another person’s rights.
7. Moderation, reports and removal
We can edit formatting, reject, pause, expire or remove content that breaks these Terms, creates a safety concern, appears misleading or is no longer useful. We may explain a rejection when practical, but we are not obliged to publish any submission. If you believe a listing, profile or review is inaccurate, report it through the contact route on the site with enough detail for us to investigate.
8. Limits of responsibility
Expatriate Zone provides a place to find information and connect with independent people and businesses. We are not a party to a sale, rental, employment arrangement, service contract or conversation between users. To the extent allowed by law, we are not responsible for losses arising from another user’s conduct, a provider’s service, an external website, a payment-provider interruption or reliance on information that has changed.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded under Kenyan law.
9. Changes and Kenyan law
We may update these Terms as the platform changes. The date above will show when the page was last reviewed. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms. These Terms are governed by the laws of Kenya. If there is a dispute, we encourage you to contact us first so that we can try to resolve it fairly.
10. Contact
For questions about these Terms, contact admin@example.com or use the site’s contact page.
